Famous Musicians
Two of the most famous Stamfordians of the musical world have had some association with Stamford Choral.
Although he never directed the choir, Sir Malcolm Sargent, the famous conductor, was President for twenty years. The composer Michael Tippett attended Stamford School, and was a past President of the society.

Sir Malcolm Sargent Trust
Since Malcolm Sargent’s death in 1967, the Society has sought to celebrate his contribution to music with the ‘Malcolm Sargent Concert’, a concert given in conjunction with the Stamford Endowed Schools Choral Society. This takes place every three years, and the next one will be performed in 2019.

Forthcoming

150 years ago in 1869, Stamford Choral Society performed it's first concert, Handel's "Messiah". This Christmas we will be performing this iconic piece to celebrate that anniversary with a period professional orchestra and an exciting line up of young soloists. See ticket information below for what promises to be a truly wonderful evening, not be missed.

Rehearsals for the Auntumn Term start on 3rd September at Stamford Methodist Church, Barn Hill, Stamford. We will be preparing Handel's Messiah for our next concert. New singers are always welcome in the opening weeks of each term, so please do come along, if you're interested in singing with us or email at stamfordchoral@gmail for further information.
