Concert History

The following concerts have been presented in recent years. An asterisk indicates Malcolm Sargent Concerts, concerts given jointly with members of the choirs of Stamford Endowed Schools. From 2001 our May concerts have generally been performed in Peterborough Cathedral, which can easily accommodate a large choir and orchestra. Christmas concerts are usually performed in Stamford School Hall and give a greater opportunity for audience participation. The choir sometimes programmes an additional summer concert, indicated thus '**'.

Forthcoming

A warm welcome this September to members old and new. Join us at Stamford Methodist Church, Barn Hill, Stamford. We will be rehearsing Vivaldi's Gloria, accompanied by local orchestral players, and an exciting new work by local composer, Charles Paterson, along with Christmas carols old and new. New singers welcome in the opening weeks of each term.

Vivaldi's beautiful setting of the Gloria, and the premier performance of a sparkling new piece by local composer Charles Paterson, 'Christmas Is Coming!'. This piece has been commissioned by Stamford Choral especially written to involve school choirs from the local area. We are especially pleased that we will be joined by local orchestral musicians and soloists for this concert, and the choirs of Malcolm Sargent Primary School and Stamford Welland Academy, and we are currently negotiating with St Gilbert's Primary School, in the hope that we can work with them, too! It promises to be quite a big event! There will be carols for choirs and audience too, so that you can sing in the Christmas season.

Mozart's sublime and remarkable Requiem with orchestral accompaniment and professional soloists. A chance to hear some of the loveliest choral music ever written, right on your doorstep. The rest of the programme is to be announced.

Summer concert. Our popular annual summer concert. Programme to be announced!
